Do you really NEED a printer? i've owned a bunch and the ink situation is
just A pain in the ass. I have one sitting in a tub someplace. I used it
    once.

The ink costs more than the cheap printers. i'd rather print my stuff at a library or ups store.

My last ink printer was hp deskjet 510. =) what a classic!
I then used Brother HL 5040 and now Brother HL 5350. For many many years. Thanks to refill toner it is as cheap as it gets to print alot of stuff.
Only thing i can't (and don't want) is color. I always had b/w laser printers.

I used to use inkjet printers, but years ago (I think in 2013), I decided to buy a laser printer, and I'm glad I did. I don't print often, but sometimes I do, and laser toner doesn't dry out. That particular printer started to not work very well, and I replaced it a couple years ago.

I think a 3-in-1 printer/scanner/copier is convenient to have at home. I don't need one very often, but sometimes I do, and since I have one at home, I don't need to go to a print/copy place. Every so often, I'll have something where someone emails me a form to sign, and it's old-fashioned where I need to print it, sign it, and scan it in to send back to them. Also, if I make a big purchase (like a car or something), I like being able to scan the paperwork into a PDF that I can view more easily on my computer. Also, when looking for a job, every so often I'll print a resume for places that (rarely) want a printed resume, or when I'm getting my resume reviewed by someone.

i print a new calendar once a month (for the month after the current one.. just enough to write coming up events). use the print shop to design it and throw some lame clip art on there lol. it's mostly just nostalgia. i do like having a physical calendar though ..

i also sometimes print maps for video games. or goofy pictures for my nephews.

If you can find a Canon model that takes individual color tanks, go for
    it. I have a Canon MX922 that's a workhorse - it's got a decent sheet
feeder, separate enclosed letter and 4x6 trays (I hate paper sticking
out of a printer...) and third-party ink is cheap, under $20 for a set
of 15, 3 of each color)

One thing I've never done with it - it'll print on printable CD/DVD
    stock.

I just bought a replacement print head for it for $30 on eBay, prints
    like new.

As long as you print something a couple of times a month the eco tank does'nt dry out, they actually automatically wet the print head every so often.
you do have to replace the overflow filter once in awhile, amazon has them for cheap, they only need replaced like every two years, and the printer gives a warning when it needs changing.

That reminds me, one of my great
regrets is that I wasn't able to repairthe feed tray of a Canon Starwriter
that I had for a bit. Loved using that
thing but I just could never get it to
feed properly and thus it wasn't
practical. Combine that withe fact tht
the floppie formatted in a proprietary
format that would need to boot into

    that machine for me.

a job, every so often I'll print a resume for places that (rarely) want a printed resume, or when I'm getting my resume reviewed by someone.

Speaking of resumes, have you heard of ATS? Some bullshit software that apparently all resumes are going through that decides whether you move on to a real person or not. I'm pretty sure my resume is getting filtered out by this crap at every job I've applied to in the past two years. Many people with perfectly good resumes are not making it to the hiring managers for review. It's supposed to just filter our the people that have no business applying for the positions, but it's blocking 1000% more.

Yeah, I've been aware of that for a long time. ATS is short for Applicant Tracking System, and as far as I know, it's simply a system for keeping track of people who have applied for what jobs (which I think makes sense for a company to have). I don't think it necessarily means they're using AI, but I've heard a lot of companies are using AI with their ATS these days.

Speaking of resumes, have you heard of ATS? Some bullshit software that apparently all resumes are going through that decides whether you move
on to a real person or not.

I've been hiring for my organization lately. It's obvious which resumes
are tailored to my job descriptions, when they hit every software title
    or technology we're asking for.

Then, when HR passes them on to me for a video interview, it's totally
obvious that they have no experience with it. My screening question is,
"Tell me a story about your experiences with {software/technology} and
how it affected the company for the better?"

They'll usually open a LLM window and start reading what comes out.

    directries
i was in and what i was doing. that was only dos though. i can't belive i even did that.

Yeah, it's not good to totally fake stuff for an interview..

I'm doing a job search right now, and I've heard differing opinions about using AI to help tailor a resume & cover letter to an application. Everyone agrees that you should check & edit what the AI generates to ensure it doesn't have false information, though I've also seen some hiring managers say they don't like candidates using AI at all for their resume or cover letter because they don't think that really represents who they are (they want to see something that really comes from the candidate).

I totally agree with that philosophy.

I wish I never bought the epson ecotank printer, ive owned it since 2018
and im likely going to drain
the ink dry and just buy a different model from a different maker like
    cannon.

I liked my Canon printer which went belly-up a couple of years ago. I replaced it with an HP and now know that I will never buy another HP printer. The next one will be something different... maybe another canon.

I love my epson ecotank 4800 series printer, prints double sided, can scan serveral pages at once, can print to a pdf file, I can fax and so much more.
My wife loves to print recipes all the time, she then shreds them about 6 months later lol.

...It said "insert disk #3", but only two will fit...

Until you have to take it in for repairs and you can't do ANY of those things. Single-purpose devices may take up more room, but at you can still do some of that stuff.

    Brother laser for the win.

I have a Brother laser priner as well.. It's one of their
multi-function printers, and I find it useful.

Mine is just a laser printer, but it's rock solid and toner lasts a LONG
time. I also have an HP OfficeJet multi-function, which works well too,
but the color ink cartridges are ridiculously expensive. I do like the copy/scan functions and the color ability if needed. Between the two
printers I'm covered for all that I need.

... Gone crazy, be back later, please leave message.
